Imagine your country is occupied. Everywhere you look, you see foreign soldiers. They are in control. You can barely understand them; they speak a different language. And it’s not just their words. They think differently.

About justice. About equality. About the truth.

You want to tell them they are wrong. That they are unjust. That they have no right to decide the fate or the happiness of others. But you have quickly learned that you mustn’t.

Every day, you hear of people being killed by these soldiers. Ordinary people just like you: the schoolmaster, because he refused to let the soldiers take over the school. The baker, who wanted to be paid for the bread they took from him. The neighbour, who was outraged when laughing soldiers dragged a young girl away…

And now, it’s your turn.

When you enter this escape room, you pay for your admission with your freedom.

What you will encounter here are the challenges and dilemmas faced by anyone forced to flee. If you choose to escape your world, you must relinquish everything you know. You will have to do whatever it takes to survive in your new reality. It is now vital that you understand your surroundings. You must be sharp-eyed to recognise the signs, brave enough to make decisions, and ready to let go of the life you once knew.

Will you manage to dive under the radar? Can you become invisible and remain unheard by the enemy?

About the Creators

Caro Wicher and Theo Soontiëns are theatre-makers based in the Achterhoek. In addition to their work in the theatre, they believe in the importance of blending art with daily life, history, and heritage.

This made creating this Escape Room a project that was right up their street. They wanted to build an experience where people didn’t just solve puzzles, but truly connected with the story—an important story.

Through collaboration with Peter Schilleman (web developer) and Jasper Fernhout (prop and set designer/builder), they have succeeded in turning this extraordinary Escape Room into a unique experience for anyone brave enough to take on the challenge.
