Connection is always there. We just need to be reminded of it sometimes.
And that is exactly what Links of Light does. It makes connection tangible, palpable, and visible.
With Links of Light, we bring the connection between people to the forefront.
See it as a reminder of the fact that we are one – a link of light.

Links of Light was designed by Evelien Nijenhuis.
It was realized in collaboration with many parties from our region, with printing by Kempers, packaging by Estinea’s day care center, and Stadskamer as a test panel.
The video was produced by Claire van Dam and the texts were written by Bram Schweckhorst.
With special thanks to the Stadskamer in Groenlo for their cooperation on the video.

This is Links of Light:

A ‘Links of Light’ package consists of 10 sheets of links and 10 instruction sheets.
Each sheet contains 2 links that can be easily assembled.
You can then connect these links to form a long, symbolic garland of light.

Links of Light is a free package that is made available to the participating municipalities.

Participating municipalities: Aalten, Berkelland, Bronckhorst, Doetinchem, Duiven, Montferland, Oost Gelre, Oude IJsselstreek, Westervoort, Winterswijk and Zevenaar.

Sometimes we need a small gesture to feel how strongly connected we are.

As a partner of the Regional Program, we would also like to mention here: Oosterlicht – an initiative by Hans van den Hurk in which light beams are placed throughout the region during the dark winter period, connecting with each other in the sky: the connecting light. This light connects various municipalities in the Achterhoek with one another; through the ‘Links of Light’, we create a very personal connection with the light.

The Regional Freedom Programme is made possible by the Province of Gelderland. This cross-border program contributes to more connection, encounter, exchange about freedom and the realization that freedom cannot be taken for granted and that everyone can pass on freedom.
