Education
The Nationaal Onderduikmuseum unites various true war stories under one roof. However, it is about more than that: the historical aspect is updated to the present and the future. The museum demonstrates that every situation requires people to make choices, regardless of their country of origin or faith. Whether they are Dutch or German, Muslim, Christian, or Jewish; in wartime, groups are deprived of their freedom of choice. To others, these choices sometimes seem black and white, but nothing could be further from the truth. Today, our lives are still shaped by choices that can determine our own lives or those of others.
In our learning programme, we utilise Kolb’s interactive didactic method. We establish a connection with human rights and organise supporting projects and temporary exhibitions in both Dutch and German. Our approach is Euregional and youth-oriented, and wherever possible, we collaborate with partners on both sides of the border.
The Nationaal Onderduikmuseum offers schools an engaging educational program that stimulates critical thinking in students. The programs offered are suitable for primary education, secondary education, higher education, and special and practical education. These programs introduce pupils and students to the themes of Hiding, Resistance, and Freedom. Most programs are available in Dutch and German.
