‘Batter’ during a baseball match between the Dutch and the Canadians

Joep Salemink (sometimes recorded in records as Saalmink) was a member of the Binnenlandse Strijdkrachten (Interior Forces), Lichtenvoorde group. From mid-April 1945, he was a member of the 3rd Company of the Dutch National Battalion (DNB), which was under the command of Battalion Commander Henk Hulshof.

His photograph was preserved by Henk Hulshof in an album. Written on the back is that Salemink was the ‘batter’ during a baseball match between the Dutch and the Canadians in Garderen. Also mentioned is: ‘Gendt near Nijmegen’.

After the war

After the war, Salemink lived at Emmerikseweg 55 in Zutphen. He later emigrated to Canada.
